It also works by slowing the growth of new blood vessels within the tumour. Gefitinib is a cancer treatment marketed under the brand name Iressa. It is not a chemotherapeutic in the traditional sense, since it does not cause the destruction of tumor cells. Instead, gefitnib interferes with the growth and spread of new cancer cells. In this respect, gefitnib is an antitumor medication rather than a cytotoxic (cell killing) drug. It is part of the class of cancer drugs known as tyrosine kinase inhibitors.Rapamycin is a macrolide compound that acts by selectively blocking the transcriptional activation of cytokines thereby inhibiting cytokine production. It is bioactive only when bound to IMMUNOPHILINS. Sirolimus (Rapamycin) is a potent immunosuppressant. Sirolimus (Rapamycin) possesses both antifungal and antineoplastic properties.Adriamycin is given through a vein by intravenous injection (IV). The syringe needle is placed directly into the vein or central line and the drug is given over several minutes. Adriamycin can also be given by continuous infusion.
